Mission

Founded in 2007, genARTS’ mission is to prepare emerging arts professionals to be the next generation of arts and culture leaders in Silicon Valley with professional development, advocacy and networking opportunities.

GenARTS envisions a thriving arts community in Silicon Valley that draws on a strong network of emerging leaders who are prepared to serve as the next generation of leadership.

GenArts objectives are to:
- Build and grow a professional network that identifies, prepares, and supports emerging leaders throughout their careers.
- Connect, educate, and inspire young professionals to seek arts and culture leadership positions in the Silicon Valley.
- Encourage strong professional relationships between key emerging and established arts leaders in the region.
- Establish a recognized leadership network that is called on to participate in communitywide conversations, serve on boards and committees, and advocate for the emerging leader and arts administration sectors.
- Contribute to a strong regional network playing an active role in the national Emerging Leaders Network.

From its hub in downtown San Jose, CA, genARTS Silicon Valley is working to serve and draw from all of Santa Clara County’s diverse communities, and reaching beyond to Santa Cruz, the Tri-Valley area, up the Peninsula, and down to Gilroy. Though its focus is primarily on the local Silicon Valley arts world, genARTS Silicon Valley is collaborating with emerging arts leaders around the San Francisco Bay Area, throughout California, and across the country.

GenARTS is currently funded by the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation and the James Irvine Foundation.
